“The Gate” Batesville, Texas Dec 30

Monday, December 30, 2013
“The Gate” Batesville, Texas 42 degrees and mostly cloudy to 42 degrees and mostly cloudy.

The sun never came out and the north wind blew all day, the most sun is these pictures at sunset. I went into Pearsall to get mail from the post office and that was about all, if you go into a store just to check something will stick to your fingers. The regular pickup trucks and crude oil and water removal tank trucks.  I never did any packing today as it was to cold to hang around outside. Opening the gate and signing the vehicle in I was ready to go inside and warm up, I am being a wimp because I can. Tomorrow I have no choice but get er done outside.

“The Gate” Batesville, Texas 41 degrees and mostly cloudy and early morning fog to 61 degrees and partly sunny.

The fog cleared after ten today and the entrance alarm went off it was the previous gate guard Jim coming to pickup some things he had left here. We talked awhile about what has gone on here while he has been gone from the gate. He told he about the changes he is making to his travel trailer and plans to be on a gate come February.

My regular number of crude oil tank trucks continue to come every day. I am starting to pack things into Buster in preparation to move off site on Wednesday.

“The Gate” Batesville, Texas Dec 28

Saturday, December 28, 2013
“The Gate” Batesville, Texas 50 degrees and mostly cloudy to 58 degrees and partly sunny.

Yesterday after Bonnie got up there was some more rain showers but this morning on my first out the road is showing signs of drying, good. I need my wood decks to dry out and then I’ll start taking them apart and storing them inside Buster. I made a campground reservation for the night of the first and the second we are at the Texas RV Supply for furnace repair and other work. After that we will slowly head towards Austin to see our daughter Carole and Avery.

I drove the mud road to the paved road this afternoon, not bad considering the rain yesterday and a quick shower this morning. There were no shiny spots all of the road out was dull and loose dirt. I could definitely tell where the trucks have been before me on the road. I still cleaned the car and it did not get as dirty on the return trip compared to the out bound trip.

“The Gate” Batesville, Texas Dec 27

Friday, December 27, 2013
“The Gate” Batesville, Texas 48 degrees and cloudy with rain showers to 52 degrees and mostly cloudy. Shower stopped by noon today but the wet mud is still there.

A little more gate traffic prior to the weekend, so I am just trying to keep the mud off the shies. In these pictures the dull ground is drained but where the trucks pass thru the gate it is shinny with the water making the mud. This clings to the truck’s mud flaps then some drops off. But the sides of the vehicles get the brown tinge until they are washed.

The dull to the right has drained while the shiny is wet mud

"The Gate" Batesville, Texas 51 degrees and cloudy with a light rain to 62 degrees and mostly sunny.
Bonnie and I had a quite Christmas with our children telephone calls and crude oil tank trucks picking up in the morning and early afternoon. Then we were by our selves the rest of the day.

Light rain fell off and on most of the day and as the crude oil tank trucks came in the water was turning to mud. Even coming from the well pad the mud was more noticeable going out than when they came in the gate.

“The Gate” Batesville, Texas Dec 24

Tuesday, December 24, 2013
“The Gate” Batesville, Texas 31 degrees and mostly cloudy to 62 degrees and mostly sunny. A cloudless sunrise today but at thirty-one degrees very crisp.

Bonnie and I want to wish all of our readers a Very Merry Christmas since we are here at a gate we are making plans to travel in the spring to visit with our children.

Just the minimum amount of gate traffic today. Yea

I think we will have a slow week here at the gate worker vehicle wise, the crude oil and water removal trucks will never stop coming to pickup product. There were a few more today than I expected maybe so they did not have to come on Wednesday.

Sunrise at the gate

Water removal truck turning around outside the gate
An interesting thing early this morning three of these water removal trucks (one at a time) show up here at the gate to make a u-turn even without presenting them self’s to the gate. Interesting that they are coming from the low traffic side (or road) and the u-turn also means they passed the entrance to a ranch they needed to make. Also they are playing “follow the leader” or one has the directions or thinks he knows where to go and got mixed up.

On the fence corner post we have an alarm sensor that rings inside Buster letting us know someone is there. And these trucks making their turn cause the alarm to ring. Today the wind and dust are also causing the alarm’s to ring. There is another one inside alerting us to a vehicle going out also.

This water they are removing has been pumped into the ground while fracking the oil well. Some comes back up while pumping the crude oil and is then separated and stored separately. It is considered a waste product hauled to a treatment location cleaned and pumped into an old water well (disposed).

“The Gate” Batesville, Texas Dec 21

Saturday, December 21, 2013
“The Gate” Batesville, Texas 49 degrees and mostly cloudy to 74 degrees and mostly sunny. We had a rain shower as the “weather” moved thru and now it is mostly sunny.

It will be a slow weekend but one pickup trucks went into the work pad to repair a leak
that was fix and the pumpjack is working. I also have a pond here at this ranch that they use the water for the oil well fracking. The past few days there have been crews coming in to setup equipment to pump water and fill the pond, I guess the water level is down and there will probably be fracking a well next month.
