So That's July

 Moncure, NC - Sunday, July 18, 2021

Morning 71 Degrees, Wind E at calm Mph, Humidity 98%, partly cloudy.

We had gotten some sprinkles and put up the large canopy to protect the table saw and the chop saw from the weather. On John’s and Chris’s way home last night they picked up more wood for the hand rails.

Looking out at our deck

Today was the hand rails around the deck and the for the stairs. We finished up that mid afternoon and had lunch before cleaning up and putting things away. I think we did a good job on the deck and hand rails.

The trailer is backed up to a tree line so there will be leafs in the fall

They played earlier and won that game in north Raleigh. And played good winning this game also but a loss yesterday prevented them from moving forward in the playoffs and playing tomorrow.

After the game we went to our daughter’s and had dinner.

Where has the month gone, we are already one month in a new to us RV park in a new trailer. We are pretty much settled in the trailer. There is next to no outside storage compared to the moterhome and we are not aloud to have a storage building. Still trying to figure that out.

Deck Start

 Moncure, NC - Thursday, July 15, 2021

Morning 70 Degrees, Wind NE at calm Mph, Humidity 99%, partly sunny.

I had an INR test this morning at eight o’clock. INR was 1.7 still a little low so they adjusted my Warfarin with four days at 5mg and three at 2.5 and do that for two weeks.

I am surprised at how fast I am into the medical routine here in North Carolina and so many doctors and hospitals that I have been into or seen in such a short time.

Morning 73 Degrees, Wind SW at calm Mph, Humidity 98%, sunny.

Afternoon 92 Degrees.

Building the deck with a lot of help from John and Chris and my assisting, we built the deck off our sliding door. We put up two canopy’s one just to shade the table saw and chop saw and one with chairs under to rest. As the sun came our of the tree line I put out the awning for more shade.

I was limited to the size of the deck by the county making it just under the maximum with and depth. John and Chris picked up more wood for the deck on their way here after sleeping in latter needing the rest from a weeks work. We got the posts set and the joists and most of the deck completed today. We also built out the steps so we could use them over night if needed. Hand rails tomorrow.

Internet connected (DSL) today, the park has a wifi that is very slow and inconstant and I ordered a DSL line from Windstream, they came today and connected us up. Ran a wire in thru the back end of the slide out.

Dish service ordered today, we reviewed what was available here and decided Dish was our best option as we are familiar with the channels available. We cut down from 200 to 120 plus local channels we were not using the others available under the 200.

Baseball & supplies for deck & dialysis

 Moncure, NC  - Monday, July 5, 2021

Morning 63 Degrees, Wind calm, Humidity 97%, partly cloudy.

We went to Fresenius dialysis clinic thinking everything was set as I had gotten a covid test at Wake Med hospital in Apex, NC. No they did the wrong test. Leaving the clinic in Holly Springs going to main street I turned onto a short street for on block to turn onto main street we saw three deer at the end of the street two jumped the berm on the right and the third went back to the left into the tree line but turned it's head back to watch us.

From there we went to Wake Med hospital in Cary today, I would say we got pushed around and put off when I would get the dialysis done. we arrived at the hospital around 6:25am they took me in to get vitals in about ten minutes then back to the waiting room for two and a half hours before going to the room in emergency got the PCR test for the Fresenius dialysis clinic. Doing all sorts of tests and sitting and waiting. Then transferred to a room upstairs for the night.

John and Ariana stopped at our house on their way home from Greensboro, NC getting things we will need for the night, because we are staying here over night.

Moncure, NC  - Tuesday, July 6, 2021
Morning 6 Degrees, Wind  at  to  Mph, Humidity %, .

I was taken to the dialysis room just before 8 am, finally and discharged after dialysis was completed. We went home and rested after our night in the hospital.

Moncure, NC - Wednesday, July 7, 2021
Morning 66 Degrees, Wind NE at calm Mph, Humidity 97%, clear.
Afternoon 91 Degrees, Wind S at 5 to 6 Mph, Humidity 51%, sunny.

6:45 am at Fresenius dialysis clinic,  only one other patent in the clinic while I was there (4 hours) and one came in as I was leaving. They have twelve “chairs” or equipment to do that number of patients at one time. This place is new and it seems the people are ever present or they do not have enough to due.

Bed left side

Moncure, NC - Thursday, July 8, 2021
Morning 76 Degrees, Wind ESE at 3 to 4 Mph, Humidity 97%, light rain.
Hurricane Elsa today, only a all day rain and little wind.

I had a 11 o’clock appointment at the Cardiologist because of my high INR (INR is a measure of how thick your blood is). My blood was too thin because of the medication I am taking and what I had eaten. I also need a Cardiologist to monitor my pacemaker. Cindy our daughter came with me to the Cardiologist office as she had worked there years ago. She had wanted me to see a different doctor but this doctor is in the same office. The doctor she wanted me to see was booked thru the first part of November. The INR had dropped to 1.7 after not taking the medicine for three days as when I first heard the number was 4.6 and trying to maintain a 2-3 range a normal is one for a pacemaker and my afib. So with a small shopping list and needing gas for the car we finally went home.

Moncure, NC - Friday, July 9, 2021
Morning 6 Degrees, Wind  at  to  Mph, Humidity %, .
Afternoon 91 Degrees.

6:15 am at Fresenius dialysis clinic,  only one other patent there while I was there (4 hours).
After that we went to Lowe’s getting some supplies for building the deck outside our glass door. John will get the wood next week. We are getting 12 footers 2 x 6" and 12 foot deck boards and cutting them all in half. When we make the deck we will trim them to make the deck 1 inch less than six feet in both directions. The county is the one that is limiting the size of the deck.

Looking to the front

Moncure, NC - Saturday, July 10, 2021
Morning 70 Degrees, Wind S at calm Mph, Humidity 99%, mostly cloudy.

Zane has two games in Ramseur, NC northeast of us off US 64. It was quicker for us to take US 1 south to Sanford then US 421 north to Siler City, NC and US 64 fifteen miles west to Ramseur, NC. We came straight home from the game as it was just dark as we came home. We try to limit our night driving but we due some. Zane’s team won the first game but lost the second game.

July 2 - 4 trying to get squared away

 Moncure, NC - Friday, July 2, 2021

Morning 74 Degrees, Wind SW at 6 to 7 Mph, Humidity 98%, cloudy.

Afternoon 78 Degrees

Rain last night late. We got going early, for us. Went to Fresenius dialysis clinic for dialysis that Christine helped setup, but I did not have a covid-19 PCR test they would not due the dialysis. We then went to Walmart for groceries then to Wake Med in Apex having to get a coved-19 test for the dialysis clinic and dialysis as it turned out they

its not able to do dialysis there as they only handle emergency’s there, it is not a full hospital. They did a chest x-ray and blood work, that turned out find except my INR was high. They gave me a script for a diarrheic to get rid of water. Back to Walmart to get the script filled. I have an appointment for Monday at a dialysis place 7:15 am. We went there just to check where the location was at, heavy traffic getting there and getting away from there but we were on our way home, with traffic thinning more as we got further away from the city.

 Moncure, NC - Saturday, July 3, 2021

Morning 61 Degrees, Wind SE at 0 to 1 Mph, Humidity 94%, sunny

We are still sorting and putting away all our things from Buster here in Texas Tilly. It seems like it is a never ending job.

We took time to attend Zane’s baseball games in High Point, NC. The first game was in a stadium down town and the second was out side of town six miles away. We stopped to eat dinner on the way home and arrived just at dark. We had a good time with our daughter and her husband and their daughter. Zane played good and pitched some innings but only one hit at bat. It was a long day and we are skipping today as the early game is at nine o’clock and the second game is at 11:30 am. We are staying home to do more work and get things settled down to something like normal. But everything is new so we are making normal for most things. Now the other thing is to remember where everything is put away.

Moncure, NC  - Sunday, July 4, 2021
Morning 63 Degrees, Wind SE at 1 to 2 Mph, Humidity 95%, sunny.

We stayed home and worked trying to get things put away and the floor cleared.
After the game Christine & John came to our house to help me cut the bed platform from a king size to a queen size. That will give us more walking around space around the bed.

Trimming the platform turned our out adding the space is a welcome addition to our walking around the bed space on the sides it added seven inches to the left side and five inches to the right side

The last of the trip

 Bessemer, AL - Tuesday, June 29, 2021

Morning 64 Degrees, Wind N at 8 to 9 Mph, Humidity 90% rain last night,  partly sunny.

More I 20 east, to Bessemer, AL all I 20 driving light to medium traffic. We crossed the “The Big River” today at Vicksburg, Mississippi, so we are now east of the Mississippi river. Next big mile stone is to be northeast of Atlanta, GA. While having dinner tonight there was a down pour a real gully washer, for a few minutes. Temps 86 with 90 % humidity, but the rain was done by the time we were ready to leave the restaurant.

Suwanee GA - Wednesday, June 30, 2021

Morning 72 Degrees, Wind SE at 1 to 2 Mph, Humidity 92%, partly sunny.

Crossing from Alabama into Georgia we crossed into eastern time zone for the first time in a couple of years. I forgot to mention on Saturday the nineteenth we crossed into central time zone from mountain time. There were some spots getting onto the I 285 around Atalanta, but all the roads were heavy traffic.

Moncure, NC - Thursday July 1, 2021

Morning 72 Degrees,

Afternoon 91 Degrees,

We got going early this morning on the road by seven am. There is construction much of the remaining miles in Georgia and we stopped in South Carolina for breakfast. Traffic is still heavier than we are used to here in the east, we were living a sheltered life in New Mexico.

Coming up I 85 near Charlotte there is I 485 around the city, and I do want to avoid the city of Charlotte so I switch to that but I don’t know where I want to get off and I 485 is telling me it is going south, but I just came from the south going north? I tried taking two different exits, no paper maps to be had at the first convince store we stopped at, back to I 485. The second exit took us east and we did want that so after a while the GPS wanted me to go south again. There I found US 52 north that is good as I know where that leads to, it took me back to I 85, but it was north of the city of Charlotte. I took that to US 64 east to Pittsboro and I knew our way from there to the RV park. We are now back on course. Latter I found out we should have stayed on I 485 to exit 31.

We arrived at our trailer about three fifteen after a long drive everything was fine just a lot of work ahead of us both inside the trailer and outside setting up doctors and other things. Chris and John came over after their work to help latter.

Traveling East

San Angelo, TX - Saturday June 26, 2021

Afternoon 92 Degrees, Wind  at  to  Mph, Humidity %, .

We started our trip to North Carolina after breakfast with a stop at the dealership, I was thinking of a telescoping pole that was not transferred into the trailer, it was still there in Buster, got that in the car now.  We traveled northeast on US 67 to Stephenville, Texas switching to US 377 and forty five miles later we were on Interstate 20 east.

In Stephenville we stopped for a pee break getting back on the road I did not see we should have followed the loop around to the right, talking as we continued on we saw gas a the lowest price in a year at HEB grocery store and even passed that and had to circle back, we needed gas anyway. Then we circle back to get on the loop road. We ended our day in Terrell, Texas passing by a Buc-ees travel stop as it was too busy the parking lot was very full, but we did get gasoline as there are 60 pumps.

The transport driver started the day in Louisiana he is moving right along.

Terrell, Texas - Sunday, June 27, 2021

Morning 76 Degrees, Wind SE at 6 to 7 Mph, Humidity 96%,  partly sunny.

I 20 east leaving Texas today into Louisiana stopping in West Monroe. We have stopped in a campground here many times over the years with Buster.

The transport driver delivered the trailer to the RV park about 4 pm today putting it in our lot. Our daughter and husband were there to receive the trailer for us.

We ended our day in West Monroe, LA today.

West Monroe Louisiana - Monday, June 28, 2021

Morning 75 Degrees, Wind SE at 4 to 5 Mph, Humidity 94%,  mostly cloudy.

Afternoon 92 Degrees

Dialyses this afternoon and laundry was our big item today. After breakfast was finding where the laundry is located as we had looked it up on line first and then finding the dialysis place also looked on my phone. We got the right building at first but not the right door as it was around the side of the building.  Lunch and a nap before dialysis because I would not be out before eight o’clock.

This evening our daughter and husband were at the trailer setting the jacks and connecting the water and electric for the trailer. They also opened the slide outs and turned on the air conditioning for us.

Transferring to the trailer from Buster

San Angelo, TX - Wednesday June 23

Afternoon HOT 100 degrees.

I had a 10 ten o’clock appointment this morning (dialysis) so after 2 we had lunch and drove out to the dealership to Buster. That was the second time as we went out about 8;30 am to get my insulin under refrigeration. In the afternoon we were stalled for an hour before we could get busy transferring from Buster to our trailer. Getting Buster in position to make the transfer was the problem as the trailer was not parked where we expect it to be.

Getting the King mattress out was one of first concern and our sleep number mattress into the trailer. The salesman did all the bull work getting the king out was easier as it was pretty firm.

The sleep number was kind of limp as I lowered the air pressure for travel. While we were doing that my wife was working in the kitchen. More work transferring tomorrow.

San Angelo, TX - Thursday, June 24, 2021
Morning 76 Degrees, Wind S at 10 to 21 Mph, Humidity 76%,  mostly sunny.
Afternoon 101 Degrees.

The final push, getting Buster emptied out after fourteen years.  My wife concentrated  on the upper or living area wile concentrated on the lower storage area. But of course I helped her also. The Sales man helped me with the storage bays as I donned my knee pads and getting underneath passing things out he walked them over to the trailer placing things at the correct end of the trailer. We ended up finishing that job quicker than I expected. He was not available all time but was a great help running what I pulled out. It’s hard for me getting up from under the storage compartment and onetime helped me up by lift me by my suspenders on my back.  Today for dinner we had Italian pizza, good for Texas.

Sunday, July 4, 2021

I have a lot of catching up to do. Just a quick update, We arrived in Moncure on Thursday July 1 3;15pm. More to follow soon with better internet connection.

San Angelo, TX - Tuesday, June 22, 2021
Morning 68 Degrees, Wind NE at 7 to 8 Mph, Humidity 73%, cloudy.
Afternoon 100 Degrees.

We started the paperwork for purchasing the trailer and had a operational walk thru late in the day. They installed the washer and dryer earlier today. That was the only option we were able to add to the trailer.  Seeing all systems work, open and close the slides, turn on the fans look at all things. Open and close all doors inside and out (compartments).

Tomorrow after dialysis (10 am for 4 hours) we can start moving our things into the trailer.

Monday, June 28, 2021

We saw the trailer in person for the first time

San Angelo, TX - Sunday, June 20, 2021

Noon 95 Degrees, Wind S at 13 to 26 Mph, Humidity 36%, sunny.

Afternoon 103 Degrees.

Driving today Big Spring to San Angelo no issues today we found the campground easy. I put in the address for the trailer dealership and it did not display the correct addresses o I select the closes match. It did not take us in the correct direction. I tried to make adjustments it did not work we were lost. So I called the dealership had them direct us there, it worked out.

We were able to walk around “our” trailer. Took some pictures, it was hot no power on the rig today and we escaped and had dinner at Cheddar’s. we had seen pictures of different rigs and was not sure what “ours” looked like. We found everything right except options we wanted were not there and installed. Missing are washer dryer, dishwasher. Other things we wanted we could pass on.

That is all that I got on the computer

On The Road

The SKP Ranch Lakewood, NM - Saturday, June 19, 2021

On the road this morning, early as it was eleven thirty by the time we started rolling down the road. There was a lot of good bey's. Still more to stuff under Buster and thru out and the power cable, water hose and sewer hose. We made Big spring tonight pulling into the campground at 4:31pm local time as we crossed into central time at the Texas state line. Going down the road and making a turn the refrigerator would open and thing s would come out and fall on the floor. We were putting the refrigerator lock in place wrong the second time I did it correctly and no more problems. Stopping in Hobbes, New Mexico for diesel fuel $ 3.419 a gallon. But if we wanted in the refrigerator be very carful that nothing fell out when you opened the doors, with no spring rods in place.

The power switch in Tan Jan gave us a problem as it did not work, we just pressed on to deal with it tonight, at tonight’s campground. I had to take out the switch returning the cables to the correct post. Then I had to jump start Tan Jan from the house batteries in Buster as the cables were long enough to reach the car battery. We went to eat and shopping for spring rods to put in the refrigerator. I purchased a GFI tester so I can check all the outlets in the trailer when we do our walk thru. We also have a USB cable to test those ports.

Making plans to move

We listed Buster on line, I put 6 pictures of the outside in the add, Crags list Roswell. We have had two inquires the second wants to see inside he is from Arizona on his way to Colorado. Says he has cash for the deal. We have been working inside boxing up and moving boxes to the shed.

Garner seems to be slow and high priced, so I contacted another dealer in Kentucky and they seem to have a better starting price.

Buster right rear

June 1, 2021

Well we have three nibbles on Buster that did not pan out. They are done. Yesterday I lowered the price then we had three more nibbles two emails and one phone call, and a looker says he will call Friday and visit on the weekend (phone caller).

In looking for our destination trailer I have contacted a place in London, Kentucky that I might order from that I think has the best price.

We continue to box up and move them to the shed. We are using small boxes to keep the weight down in the individual boxes.

June 1, 2021

Well we have a looker coming Friday afternoon from Phoenix, Arizona. We are still boxing but at a slower rate wail still living in Buster..

June 3, 2021

I talked and emailed with some one in Phoenix they plan to look at Buster Friday. I had three other contacts from Texas, Colorado and California. We continue to box our things and moving them out to our shed. But we still need things to live.

We did make a run to Roswell for prescriptions and I had a board meeting before that for ranch business. I told them we are putting up our lot for reassignment and resigning the board soon.

Tomorrow we will stop on out way home at U Haul seeing about renting a small van as our shed is getting too full for more boxes. We are getting out boxes from Walmart, 14 x 14 x 12. Trying to keep the weight down in each box.

June 5, 2021

Well no one came yesterday to look at Buster. After dialysis we stopped at a U Haul place in Artesia, NM about $ 1,400.00 dollars to rent a small van to North Carolina. I will reserve one after I get a commitment from a buyer. I have moved many boxes to the shed and it is getting full. I am expecting a looker today, hope it goes well. Well the lookers came and left offered less by text. Start over again.

Well we are rethinking our options we might take Buster to North Carolina.  If we do that we will unpack some boxes and try and stack some inside Buster. It is just hard to sell a motorhome older than ten years old. Buster is seventeen years old. I have revised the listing online adding more information as I think of it.

Sunday, May 30, 2021

The SKP Ranch Lakewood, NM - Sunday, May 30, 2021

Morning 69 Degrees, Wind SE at 14 to 15 Mph, Humidity 81%, mostly sunny.

Afternoon 81 Degrees, Wind E at 21 to 29 Mph, Humidity 76%, mostly cloudy/windy.

Hanging up the keys

We have made the decision and are along the way in moving on to another life. My wife and I have a pretty good start boxing every thing up that is inside Buster and under storage. We want to move out and sell Buster here in New Mexico. We are looking at moving to North Carolina where two of our daughters live.

We are looking at purchasing a destination trailer to live in. We started looking at apartments, but our wants and needs did not match up with the availability in the area.

We have two bites on our add in the crags list in Roswell area one looking today.
