Bowl Games Day, a lot of college football on television today. Yesterday after the safety meeting we stopped at the new HEB grocery ant gas station. Interesting there is a convince store and McDonald”s with gasoline selling at $ 1.509 a gallon. I was thinking of the time about a year and a half back about gasoline selling at this price and thought that it was only a memory never to happen again. I also dream of the $ .249 per gallon I paid in 1973 buying 48 gallons about twelve dollars.

Even the diesel fuel under two dollars seems like fantasy after feeling that $3.699 in 2014 was a “cheep” price. Who ever thought the OPEC oil cartel would pump and sell as much as they could produce after limiting production for so many years. Even our round trip east this summer diesel purchases were at least one dollar per gallon less than the year before.

One location that I purchased diesel over five years, Tallahassee, Florida (2015 - $2.529) (2014 - ($3.889) (2013 - $4.269) (2010 - $3.169) (2009 - $2.669). The lowest price per gallon I paid for Buster is $ 1.889 per gallon in March 2009 in Eloy Arizona. The most we paid for diesel fuel in Tampa, Florida May 2008 $4.699.

We are still admiring, a year latter, that we have done the right thing in changing the refrigerator to the residential type. We are able to store more and the temperature is constant thirty-eight degrees, not fluctuating from forty-four to sixty-four degrees.

We were in Kenedy, TX (twenty-four miles southwest of Buster’s parking) at seven thirty for a eight AM safety meeting from the oil company. Needed this safety meeting and FR (fire retardant) clothing (long sleeve) and safety shoes (hard toe). Looks like Monday for the H2S gas safety training and more clothing. I was only able to buy one shirt today and need more, as they do need to be washed once in a while. This job will be six to six so there is no night work.

We got Buster packed and moving about ten thirty for our short move. On the way Buster took a drink of diesel fuel at $ 1.959 a gallon, I had him fill to the brim at that price. Total trip her was seventy five miles in state highways. This is an area of Texas we have not worked before so all new experiences for us.

Today it was back to Walmart for a large television wall mount bracket. Took a while to figure out the hardware (screws) to mount the brackets to the television, too many selections, all metric. So I think I am done with the television side now to the box for the plate I remove the old one and place the new plate, something is not right. Getting out the old tape measure checking and figure, does not add up. I need about two inches with the television installed to allow the television to be lifted off the bracket.

Now this wood stand I made in 2008 with the old television in mind. I have found the horizontal plywood the plate attaches to is too high for the large television and wall mount bracket. Trying to reset this and fit check the television I find that the new wall mount bracket is a more flush mount type and the vertical plywood supports are set too far back and need to come flush with the face of the opening.

We were watching the NFL Giants & Carolina Panthers football game when the television went mostly dark. I could see some figures moving but too dark to even tell the uniforms. We have had this television since the summer of 2008 and it has been on a lot of hours during our working twenty four hour days. Sound is fine just low screen illumination. Went to the other television in the bedroom to see the Giants loose the football game to the Carolina Panthers in the last minute by a field goal.

We went to Walmart and got a fifty inch television. On the way home to Buster I am thinking about the cables connecting the television to the Dish box, I had set this up using video cable and sound cable. Well the new television does not have the video connection and the box does not have the new HDMI output. Sow it is back to Walmart for a coax cable.

At Buster I got the old television down and remove the wall brackets but they do not fit the new television, too small. I just set the television on the table stand for tonight.

We have been very quite waiting for a gate, there has been calls both ways but nothing that we want yet. There was an offer for a day gate but traveling thirty miles to and from and moving to another RV park not our cup of tea. It has turned colder after a good run of indian summer. In this park some of the long time “workers” have pulled out and now there some vacant lots available.

Now that the price of crude oil has dropped again companies are cutting the budgets to drill and complete wells. Our chances of work diminish with as the budgets get cut.

Thought For The Day – I’ve realized that no matter how much I diet, I’m never going to get down to my original weight. But that’s okay, 7 pounds 8 ounces is just not realistic.
