Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX Apr 28 - 29

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Tuesday, April 28, 2015
Morning 61 Degrees, Wind NNW 17 & gusting to 28 Mph, Humidity 48%, mostly sunny.
Afternoon 73 Degrees high for today, Wind NW 12 & gusting to 28 Mph, Humidity 38%, overcast.
The wind gusts started getting serious in the three o’clock hour and been gusting into the thirties since. This morning the sunshade was clinging to the windshield wiper arm (magnet in hem). I was up earlier today so I just took it down and brought it inside. The wind and low humidity is drying the mud lakes around Buster, that is a good thing the wind is doing for us here at the gate. Weather history reports wind gusts as a high of forty miles per hour. The wind is gusting almost as high again today as  yesterday and the weather talkers saying California was getting the Santa Ana winds that fan the brush fires. Today the loose magnets on the lower and middle outside edge did not leave the windshield. I started looking on the ground and not seeing them in the areas I found them yesterday I looked to the windshield and there they were. So I just left the shade off today. It is not as warm so the temperature in Buster did not go up that much.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Wednesday, April 29, 2015
Morning 52 Degrees, Wind NW 6 & gusting to Mph, Humidity 82%, mostly sunny.
Afternoon 77 Degrees high for today, Wind NE 5 Mph, Humidity 28%, mostly sunny.

Today I rehung the sunshade it was easy but I did use the ladder to accomplish the task. I might get the bar magnet order on Friday or Saturday at the post office. Gate wise the traffic was easy and the one task is winding down and tomorrow should be rig down day.  We had a nice sunset today.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 26 - 27

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Sunday, April 26, 2015
Morning 71 Degrees, Wind SE 8 & gusting to 14 Mph, Humidity 100%, overcast.
Afternoon 79 Degrees high for today, Wind SE 9 & gusting to 17 Mph, Humidity 52%, mostly sunny.

Bonnie is not feeling well this morning, stomach gas so she went to bed. Later she was up long enough for me to go shopping, propane gas tank refill and drinking water. When I returned she went back to bed. While I was at my first stop, getting the water I noticed the volt gage in the car was low as I shut off the key but continued on with the task. The car battery did not have enough energy to start again when I tried to leave. I got out my cables and put the hood up “trolling” for a jump start. It did not take me long to catch a start waving the cables. I left the car running at my other stops until I returned to the gate and locked the doors with my spare key I keep in my wallet when going into the stores. The battery initially was charging when started but was a steady thirteen volts on the drive home to the gate. I put the charger on after parking and it did take a charge. Next time I go to town I will go by the auto parts store and have it checked out. NASCAR Richmond, VA today went off without rain.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 24- 25

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Friday, April 24, 2015
Morning 73 Degrees, Wind N 1, Humidity 100%, cloudy morning.
Afternoon 86 Degrees high for today, Wind ESE 7 & gusting to 14 Mph, Humidity 70%, mostly cloudy.

Rain early morning, enough to wake me up .2 inches of mud rain. The sunshades were good this morning with the rain we had over night.  The wood planks I have on the ground around the car have floated around and that will be a muddy trip to retrieve them. The lake across from Buster is back to full size and the left side of Buster is a muddy mess again.

Slippery mud between vehicles

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Saturday, April 25, 2015
Morning 73 Degrees, Wind N 10 Mph, Humidity 100%, cloudy morning.
Afternoon 89 Degrees high for today, Wind ESE 6 Mph, Humidity 54%, mostly sunny.

Well the rain Friday was early and late two good soakers for plenty of mud but the low quantity of traffic results in a minimum amount of churning of mud on the road, but plenty for me to walk around in.

That wind this morning has the sun shade flapping about a bit on the inside edge (center of Buster) left panel. I had one more set of magnets and placed it on the left panel to stop that flapping. It was lifting from the edge to the windshield wiper. Placing the that one magnet set stopped that completely. My plans for the future are to order more magnets, bar magnets this time thinking of six sets total for the outside corners and the inside top corner of both panels.

This afternoon there was a nice sunset, the first in a long time. Another slow day as there are no sleep over people and the water trucks are also slowing down (frequency of coming to the gate). All this is giving us the feeling of gate closing is coming soon (our job being done here).
NASCAR from Richmond, VA rained out last night, maybe the storms we had this week arrived there for race time.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 22 - 23

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Wednesday, April 22, 2015
Morning 68 Degrees, Wind E 6 & gusting to Mph, Humidity 88%, overcast to misty rain late morning & early afternoon. Afternoon 77 Degrees high for today, Wind ENE 8 Mph, Humidity 94%, overcast all day.

The flow back operation is slowing down as the past week men and equipment has been departing the pad site. The past two days there has been four of these tanks have been taken off the pad site. These are ground storage tanks and can be manifold together to increase storage quantity.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Thursday, April 23, 2015
Morning 73 Degrees, Wind N 1 Mph, Humidity 100%, overcast & fog.
Afternoon 90 Degrees high for today, Wind E 10 Mph, Humidity 74%, mostly cloudy.

Spending time today planning a trip east, Buster and Bonnie requires me to plan our route and where and when we stop for the night. Planning the route has me figure the roads and miles we travel in Buster. I also schedule fuel stops as I want to pick stations where Buster has plenty of room to maneuver with Tan Jan towed behind and price is important when you are buying more than twenty-five gallons. Buster gets more than eight miles per gallon as long as I keep the speed under sixty-four miles per hour. A one hundred gallon fuel tank gives plenty of “range” between fuel stops but driving on the “top half” provides a good feeling to the driver.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - magnets installed

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Tuesday, April 21, 2015
Morning 59 Degrees, Wind E 5 Mph, Humidity 82%, partly sunny, going mostly cloudy.
Afternoon 73 Degrees high for today, Wind ESE 8 & gusting to 15 Mph, Humidity 69%, mostly cloudy.
Sunrise
I was up a little late for me at six o’clock and Bonnie was looking for a days sleep. She did get up early, for her as she was interested in some retail therapy. The day started off with a nice sunrise and went down from there, clouded up quickly after the, sunrise picture.

The sunshade panels were “trimmed” for the inside installation, height and radius. The windshield is “laid back” at the top so the bottom wants to lay against the windshield in this application, that is good. When installed inside the intended application the panels would not lay against the windshield at the bottom.

Viewing outside magnets in place (right)
Yesterday I was able to complete magnet installation in both panels top hem and closed the ends with staples. I hung them in place with tape (temporary) and put the magnet inside at the outside edge first temporary allowing it to stick (magnetize) to the windshield. I did the easy side first, right side as there is no steering wheel to deal with. Adjusting the tape and adding magnets to the inside. Just bringing the magnet close to the glass it wants to attract to the magnet out side in the hem of the panel and there is no problem with polarity, (repelling from each other) as the one in my hand would flip as needed to cling to the glass.

Looking out the left side
Magnets in place
Now I taped a magnet to the lower right corner with the double-sided tape and just placed a magnet outside and repeated this for the middle. On top I removed one magnet at a time noting which side was on the glass and applied the double-sided tape to that surface. Removing the red film and sticking the magnet back to the windshield repeating this four times. This morning I completed the inside for the left shade panel around the steering wheel.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 20 magnets

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Monday, April 20, 2015
Morning 67 Degrees, Wind NE 15 & gusting to 22 Mph, Humidity 55%, cloudy morning.
Afternoon 72 Degrees high for today, Wind NE 7 & gusting to 13 Mph, Humidity 40%, mostly cloudy.

Dime & Magnet

Dime & Magnet

The magnets I ordered were at the post office Saturday and I picked them up this morning as Bonnie stayed up and “covered the gate” for me while I drove there. When the gate “slowed down” I attempted to get ready for the installation. It seems that when I return there is usually a vehicle coming or going. Today there was a water truck with a “new” to the site driver that had to back up and swing the truck wider otherwise the trailer wheels would contact the sign and cone. It is hard to get these drivers to make wide turns they want to cut the corner short.

First I got five magnets in each panel top edge seam spacing them about the same distance as the suction cups that were used before. Opening the seam like an envelope on the end. I used staples to close the ends. I was forgetting the north and south poles of the magnets then I realized they were repelling when first attempting to put the sunshades on the windshield. These magnets are strong, pictured with a dime coin, I wanted to put one on each side of the coin but as I brought the second one close they stuck together “like magnets”. The second try I could not get closer than inch before it pulled the one I was placing to the other side of the coin it snapped to the first one. In the package they are in two columns of five and are difficult to separate from one another.

Although the magnets were clinging to the windshield wiper arms. Bonnie was trying to sleep so I was attempting this myself, tape was a big help also. With the shades in place with tape I applied magnets to the inside now holding the shade in place. On the outside edges I placed one for the bottom and one for the middle. The inside edges are laying flat and the windshield wiper helps hold the inside (center) edge down. The wind was coming from the back of Buster and was nipping or “pulling on the outside edge some. I used 3M trim tape (double sided, from Auto Zone Store) to stick the magnets to the windshield inside surface.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 18 - 19 bag man

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Saturday, April 18, 2015
Morning 66 Degrees, Wind N 7 Mph, Humidity 98%, overcast  fog.
Afternoon 78 Degrees high for today, Wind E 5 Mph, Humidity 78%, partly sunny.

Mid morning we had a small shower and a slow day for the gate, which means the dirt mud is not drying out today. Every day I have at least two trips walking to the back or left side of Buster to turn on or off the light tower, the evening trip I refuel the generator fuel tank also. Every night we have two of the four lights on alternating them every other day. Well with this rain to me it is two walks in the MUD. Today I tried something different, I bagged my shoes. I put Walmart bags over the shoes and a round of tape on my ankles to hold the bag in place. Surprisingly it worked well, and in the mud I did not feel slippery.

I was expecting the bags to be slippery, walking I did not feel that sensation. The road does dry faster as it is higher, crowned and the traffic helps. The area where I am walking is also getting the silt being washed from the road making that back area slippery to walk on. The mud sticks to the soles and heel of the shoes and builds with every step, that is why we need the shoe scrapper and the shoe brush does not work until the shoe has been scrapped.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Sunday, April 19, 2015
Morning 70 Degrees, Wind N 1 Mph, Humidity 100%, fog.
Afternoon 87 Degrees high for today, Wind NE 10 & gusting to 14 Mph, Humidity 45%, mostly sunny.

I did grocery shopping and filling our drinking water container in the afternoon today as Bonnie was ready for bed early today. The reason I try and go early morning is to get the Sunday paper, there was some left today when I arrived in town. Bristol, TN NASCAR race had the rain we got on Friday, two red flags (stopped for rain) but they got it in late and they have lights for night racing.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 15 Taxing

somehow I was able to pass over this day putting my posts out, the tax man would be unhappy.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Wednesday, April 15, 2015
Morning 59 Degrees, Wind N 5 & gusting to Mph, Humidity 100%, overcast.
Afternoon 79 Degrees high for today, Wind ESE 10 Mph, Humidity 65%, mostly cloudy. Late in the afternoon the sun tried to burn thru and went to partly cloudy for a short time.

Gate wise it was a slow day, but in the afternoon a guy came to change the generator oil and filter. I told him the engine was slinging oil from the front seal and after looking himself he called for a replacement unit. He waited for the other unit to arrive then took the oil leaking unit out. The replacement unit is newer than the “oil leaker”. Latter at dinner time the re-fuel truck showed up to full the fuel (white) tank on the back of the trailer.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 16 -17 Flooding

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Thursday, April 16, 2015
Morning 68 Degrees, Wind ESE 4 & gusting to Mph, Humidity 94%, overcast.
Afternoon 83 Degrees high for today, Wind SE 7 Humidity 62%, partly cloudy. We had some misty rain this morning to wet our walkway but cleared away to partly cloudy although the forecast is for forty percent thunder showers and darker clouds off to the east.

Slow day again for our gate traffic and some of our live in flow back guys are leaving our site, one today and one yesterday.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Friday, April 17, 2015
Morning 73 Degrees, Wind ENE 5 & gusting to Mph, Humidity 100%,  misty fog.
Afternoon 78 Degrees high for today, Wind NW 14 & gusting to 21 Mph, Humidity 100%, thunder, lightening and rain (during the early afternoon) and sun peeking out at sunset, rainfall about an inch and a half.

Suction cups lost their suction and the sunshades came down in the rain storm
We had a heavy thunder and lightening shower that flooded our site under Buster and our car parking area. That rain was drawn up from Mexico ahead of the low that is over Colorado giving Denver area a snow storm we might have had a few hail stones also in that as some rain sounded like rocks on the roof. The flooding went out to the cone in the center and floated the empty grey tank closer to Buster, (I moved it back).
Water on both sides of Buster
This evening the breeze is continuing to blow a drying effect on the road and lakes we have beside the dirt road here. Traffic is remaining very light and the flow back operation is winding down

The puddle was out to the middle cone

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 13 MUD

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Monday, April 13, 2015
Morning 63 Degrees, Wind S 5 Mph, Humidity 85%, cloudy morning.
Afternoon 87 Degrees high for today, Wind SSE 7  Mph, Humidity 40%, mostly sunny.
Well we got the sixty percent chance of rain .36 inches of of it, and the MUD.
Buster's Lake
The rain came right after sundown last night with lightening and thunder with enough rain to pause our satellite signal for a while. During the heavy rain a couple of water trucks came in, they had been here earlier so we were able to just wave them in without going outside. NASCAR was Saturday night from Fort Worth, TX so it was a quite Sunday afternoon for golf (Master’s) on the television Sunday. Gate traffic is slow all day and diesel fuel for the generator was delivered early today, walking around in the mud before the ground started drying out.

This dry's slow as it only gets noon sun
Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Tuesday, April 14, 2015
Morning 63 Degrees, Wind NW 8 & gusting to  Mph, Humidity 94%, cloudy morning.
Afternoon 78 Degrees high for today, Wind NNE 10 & gusting to 18 Mph, Humidity 50%, mostly sunny. Just before two this morning we had another storm with .63 inches of Mud rain with lightening and thunder.
Sticky MUD on the left
An average day of in and out gate trucks water and pickup type and one oil truck making a few trips picking up oil from the temporary ground tanks. So the ground drying will start all over with the rain we had last night. The muddy areas are very slippery around the car and down the left side of Buster up to the generator trailer. I broke down the extra pallet we had laying by the road to make walking planks to the side and back of the car (Tan Jan). The pictures show the lake across from Buster, the wood planks behind Tan Jan and the shinny mud on the left is very slippery. The planks on the left side of Tan Jan, that shinny mud sticks to your shoes and is very slippery.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 11 - 12

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Saturday, April 11, 2015
Morning 65 Degrees, Wind E 8 & gusting to 11 Mph, Humidity 90%, overcast morning with misty rain. Afternoon 76 Degrees, Wind ENE 10 Mph, Humidity 93%, mostly cloudy.

We had a slow day with contaminated water trucks coming and going all day and night (picking up). There were some other pickup trucks checking on the flow back workers on site and supplying water and diesel fuel. The misty rain stopped late morning and only heavy black clouds came near dark staying to our east and north.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Sunday, April 12, 2015
Morning 57 Degrees, Wind E 2 & gusting to 4 Mph, Humidity 90%, and overcast.
Afternoon 82 Degrees, Wind SE 9 & gusting to 17 Mph, Humidity 74%, partly sunny. With the sun breaking thru the overcast has driven out temperature up above the forecasted high of the day. This evening there are thunder showers in our area with possible Mud for tomorrow morning.

We had some rain over night but not after I was up and on duty. The road was only lightly muddy and was drying. We Bonnie was willing to stay up for a while so I spent time trying to get the water out of the washing machine, without drenching the floor. I first tried to drain the water directly out the drain hose by taking it out of the stand pipe sneaking between the machine and the wall and out the front. That got me about a half ounce of water. Then I remembered a panel on the lower front removes, but I had to remove screws in a piece of wood that “locks” the machine in the compartment. With that out a quick panel removal was done with the aid of a putty knife giving me access to the lint trap.

Now to do this without getting everything soaked with water. I found I could not pull the machine forward but was able to tip up the front. With that I got some rope tilted up the front and got the rope around both front leveling pads. With the rope I was able to lift and pull the machine forward bringing the lint trap slightly outside the compartment. The black lint trap unscrews, but I first got some aluminum foil rolled up the edge of one end and got that underneath the machine where the lint trap is located. Then with a plastic container to catch the water I was able to unscrew the lint trap some and get water to flow down the foil and into the container. Took five, three-quarters full containers to empty the drum of wet clothes. I would close the lint trap and remove the container to empty it. Many runs, no spills to empty all the water.

Now remove the lint trap completely, and found a small amount of lint and a mouse. It is a regular problem we have experienced out here in the fields. This is not the first one we have taken out of our rigs systems. In January of 2014 we had a noise in our heater blower the mouse was caught in the blower. Washing machine is now working fine.

This is the cone that was knocked over this afternoon
We had cow come a grazing along the road behind Buster in the afternoon and just before dark. In the afternoon I did not get any pictures and the cows were up close with one on the road going to the gate. The others were at the edge of the road and around the cone, knocking it over. Seeing that I went out to close the gates, which ended up causing them to depart the area with hast, and I left the gates open. We were told to keep the cows on the same side of the gates, meaning they are not allowed to pass thru the gates. This evening there was a larger group and there were more than the picture captured

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 10 Mud

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Friday, April 10, 2015
Morning 70 Degrees, Wind NNW 13 & gusting to 21 Mph, Humidity 93%, rain showers (0.03). Afternoon 82 Degrees, Wind NNW 13 & gusting to 18 Mph, Humidity 51%, partly sunny.

The raised parts are SQUISH  from the tires rolling thru the mud
We received the forty percent over night (rain) and I heard it coming down as I was waking up this morning, just made me start thinking about the MUD. There has not been any rain since I have been out playing in traffic today. The right windshield sunshade suction cups have not held with the wind we are having today, as they have probably lost the seal to the glass and the wind pulling on the sunshade. The wind is helping to dry things out, mud (overnight). Later today the left side suction cups are coming loose, between the rain, wind and time they are loosening up. With the wind north and northeast it is pulling on the right edge. I only had top and bottom suction cups on that edge, and I should add at least one suction cup mid range top to bottom. I do need to order the magnets and stop using the suction cups.

I placed my order for the magnets today I will get an e-mail when they ship. The afternoon is cooler after the front moved thru early this morning. The wind is drying the muddy road and it is almost hard now in the early afternoon.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 8 - 9 - MUD

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Wednesday, April 8, 2015
Morning 71 Degrees, Wind SE 4 Mph, Humidity 88%, Overcast morning.
Afternoon 87 Degrees, Wind SE 8 Mph, Humidity 51%, partly sunny going back to overcast. There is Mud rain in our weather forecast.

I had a mid day doctor appointment to take a beating about my blood work. Bonnie was able to get some sleep the night before and I was up early so she was able to get four hours in bed before I went off to the doctor. My A1C is high and the doctor added Januvia to my regular prescription list, I had dropped Victoza and gotten samples of Farxiga also. It was a long trip, two hundred thirty-five miles for doctor and pharmacy but I did stop for a few groceries and Brisket for diner along the way home.

closed gates over the weekend
Flow back of the oil wells started yesterday and is “scheduled” for two weeks with crews living on site working four wells. Water trucks are the other big traffic flow hauling out tanks of contaminated water with chemicals and oil. The oil brought up will be piped across the street to the tank battery there that was built there big enough to handle a number of oil wells.

We had not seen the "locals" for a while

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Thursday, April 9, 2015
Morning 66 Degrees, Wind E 7 Mph, Humidity 83%, Overcast morning going partly cloudy.
Afternoon 91 Degrees, Wind ENE 7 Mph, Humidity 43%, partly sunny. The Mud rain has not arrived yet and the weather talkers are now selling the weekend forty percent chance.

I was up early today for Bonnie to get to bed for a good days sleep. Working the gate today before sunrise I noticed for the first time a flair burning at the well pad (picture above) taken from out gate. I was able get the new Outlook e-mail program working today, finally. Now I have to rebuild my contacts list, then find out how to save that to a thumb drive.

So the new thing is the washing machine will not drain after rinsing a load of wash. Water trucks and others are coming and going all day, I need Bonnie rested and watching the gate for me to work on the washing machine. At least get the water out and remove the clothes.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 6 - 7

Page views all time history 50,151 Month     446
Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Monday, April 6, 2015
Morning 70 Degrees, Wind E 6 Mph, Humidity 88%, cloudy morning.
Afternoon 82 Degrees, Wind S 6 Mph, mostly cloudy.

We had gate traffic today with a couple of companies clearing out and others starting up operations. My other problem came back with getting my email to display in Outlook. I think Outlook 2003 is dead as there is no support or the possibility of getting the updates for the software. I have downloaded the 2013 on a trial and that is also giving me problems. part of the incoming traffic was the "tanks" for flow back, trailers with one set of tandem wheels (no picture yet) that are used as temporary storage. these trailers are like a large square box and can be connected together to make one large tank. As these trailers have only one axle it cannot be used to carry liquid on the highway.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Tuesday, April 7, 2015
Morning 66 Degrees, Wind ESE 5 Mph, Humidity 100%, cloudy morning.
Afternoon 92 Degrees, Wind SE 14 & gusting to 21 Mph, Humidity 46%, partly sunny.

Flow back, here at the well pad is starting;
“Flow back is a process in which fracture fluid is recovered from the well to the surface. The process may also include the return of any energized gases that have been injected into the well during the fracturing process such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide. The purpose of the flow back is to safely recover these substances from the well and transition the marketable hydrocarbons (oil or natural gas) of the well stream to a sales pipe line or storage tank”.

This is a 24-7 operation which for us means we have “live on site people”.  They bring in campers for the workers to sleep on the well pad. But with people here 24-7 there is always someone coming back in or going to the store or another well pad. The gate becomes like a regular revolving door operation of vehicles in and out. Sometimes it seems like only a few do the work and the rest are runners going and coming all the time.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Saturday, April 4, 2015
Morning 68 Degrees, Wind NE 13 & gusting to 20  Mph, Humidity 49%, cloudy morning.
Afternoon 63 Degrees, Wind ENE 6 & gusting to Mph, Humidity 66%, mostly sunny, overcast all day.

I realized to day working these gate guard jobs first there is no commuting to work. Additionally we are living in a gated community and at this gate we even have another gate to go thru for access to the outside world. And we had holiday traffic today (none).

Morning 59 Degrees, Wind variable at 6 Mph & gusting to 13 Mph, Humidity 82%, overcast morning.     Afternoon 77 Degrees, Wind SSE 6 Mph, Humidity 61%, partly sunny.

I have been having trouble setting up my e-mail software, I use Microsoft outlook to send and receive G-mail as I prefer the display and function of the outlook over G-mail. I continued to get error messages for the address or port or security. Yesterday I was considering the age of the software (2003) and it is no longer supported by Microsoft or up dated but I do have the disk to install. Using the internet e-mail box the boxes there set the same as my other (older) computer sending a test e-mail failed every time. My thinking went to the unsupported software and no updates as the cause and needing to purchase a newer version of the software.

Today I tried one thing more clicking help, then detect and repair then start, ok what the heck cant hurt. That went thru it’s thing and I sent another test message, it worked. Other software that was on the failed hard drive was downloaded to install and is lost.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 3 Easter

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Friday, April 3, 2015
Morning 72  Degrees, Wind SE 7 Mph, Humidity 88%, cloudy morning.
Afternoon 82 Degrees, Wind N 9 & gusting to 15 Mph, Humidity 66%, mostly cloudy.

Thursday evening was exciting in the wrong way. I powered up the computer with the new hard drive installed some software and the computer needed a reboot. That did not work, and an error message. My thinking immediately went to why did I spend the money for that hard drive and the computer is not fixed? Ended up going to bed on that thought. This morning when I turned on the computer it powered as expected “normal”, OK operator error? Also last night maintenance came and replaced the fuses  holder, fuel transfer pump works fine now.

So a new hard drive is just like a new computer, software to install, configuring, re-boots downloading updates to windows. Re-boot error message again, now the Laptop store is open, made the call. You know when booting for two seconds there is the F2 flash on the screen, well I needed to do that and change from USB drive to Hard drive, only took me two try’s to get it right.

Doing all this there is a gate to watch, very low traffic on Good Friday, thank you. And we have mail to pick up. After her nap Bonnie went to Carrizo Springs, and picked up the mail in Asherton. Expecting a very slow gate weekend.

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Apr 2

Buster’s Gate Asherton, TX - Thursday, April 2, 2015
Morning 68 Degrees, Wind SE 6 Mph, Humidity 100%, cloudy morning.
Afternoon 91 Degrees, Wind SE 9 & gusting to 21 Mph, mostly sunny.

We were out of here just before six thirty and back at our gate  just after six thirty at night, tired from a full day of running a round. In case the doctor wanted a blood sample there was fasting, so no breakfast until after the doctor visit. Well the place we wanted to have breakfast was closed (no breakfast for me today) so we pushed on to the next stop, computer doctor. I chose which computer repair by the name “laptop’. Well that is my computer type. I paid extra for immediate service. They did a test of the hard drive (time). I had called in checking just as they finished that and the hard drive failed. Replaced hard drive and installed windows seven. No windows updates as that  would take more time, with the hard drive being replaced we were able to get some shopping and lunch ok lunch and shopping. After picking up the computer it was off to pickup prescriptions at the pharmacy, had to wait for the new ones I just handed in when I got there, some more shopping, and gasoline for Tan Jan $ 2.019 a gallon. Eighteen cents lower than Carrizo Springs (boonies). My tales sounds like a lot of shopping, first no refrigerated items, except for coffee ice cream, and ice for the cooler, one of my meds is refrigerated. The only shopping was things we cannot get here like Bonnie’s flavored tea.

Check out our replacement gate guard and unload the car, ice cream first. Many things to sort thru get the computed powered up and other programs installed. With the wind coming from the east we were getting false alarms on our gate incoming sensor but maintenance came to replace the fuse holder for the fuel pump. Then our street gate guard came asking about out “gate sitter” they are looking to make a doctors visit also they both knocked on the door as we thought they were false alarms also. Maintenance parked at the back of Buster and we did not see the walker after the alarm sounded.

Buster's Gate Asherton, TX - Mar 31

Buster's Gate Asherton, TX - Tuesday, March 31, 2015
Morning 68 Degrees, Wind SSE 7 Mph, Humidity 88%, mostly cloudy.
Afternoon 75 Degrees, Wind SE 8 Mph, Humidity 69%, mostly cloudy.

I have to transfer diesel fuel from the white tank into the generator tank using a twelve-volt electric pump. Monday night when I went to transfer fuel again the pump did not work. Earlier in the day the fuel delivery came and I had topped off the tank in the generator and the white tank was filled.

I checked the fuse after finding it and found it burnt. Today I went to Carrizo Springs and purchased some fuses and a tank of propane as we had also emptied that. When I tried to place the new fuse I also noticed one terminal also burnt and I did get one pump operation. Later in the day I could not get another operation. The first unit we had would start surging, not getting enough fuel when the fuel tank was less than a half tank of fuel. I have been fueling in the evening so there will be no surging over night. When we got the surging the large overhead lights went out and take time to cycle before coming back to full illumination. Power dropped in Buster a lot of things cycled and my c-pap machine went off waking me, so we do not want that to happen again.

I am still using our old computer, and will try and get into a computer store tomorrow if they can help me??? Maybe the computer is repairable and not take too long.
