Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Jan 25 - 27

Austin, TX - Sunday, January 25, 2015
Morning 41 Degrees, humidity 95%, partly sunny.
Afternoon 70 Degrees, wind N 1, humidity 65%, mostly sunny.

Well the reason we are here in Austin is Carole is flying out this morning early on a  business trip and Jackie is visiting with some girlfriends this weekend. Bonnie and I are here to bridge the gap in time with Avery and the senior pets before Jackie comes home. But every chance to visit with them is important. Jackie was home about noon and we all went for a late lunch early dinner. We left for Buster from the restaurant after eating and ran into stop and go traffic trying to enter interstate thirty-five from US 290. Interstate thirty-five was slow for about three miles before getting up to highway speed. Continuing to San Antonio was also heavy traffic and we stopped at H E B for bread and milk on the way home. Nice to be back home to Buster even though we were only gone a little over a days time.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Monday, January 26, 2015
Morning 39 Degrees, wind N 1, humidity 75%, mostly cloudy.
Afternoon 74 Degrees, wind WSW 7, humidity 23%, mostly sunny.

Arriving back a Buster here at the RV park we noticed the two vacent sites have refilled with travel trailers, looks like workers as most here are workers for the oil industry. Lately the workers seem to be working shorter days as the “company work trucks” are spending more time in the park during the day. The breakneck pace of out early in the morning and home late after dark is relaxing to a more normal pace.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Tuesday, January 27, 2015
Morning 46 Degrees, wind WNW 5, humidity 68%, mostly sunny.
Afternoon 80 Degrees, wind WNW 4, humidity 59%, sunny.

While we were in Austin I saw a flyer in the paper for a air compressor on sale at Harbor Freight, best price I have seen, so today that was my plan. There is no use in checking Busters tire pressure if I have no way to correct low tire air pressure. Bonnie and I found Harbor Freight in San Antonio, we have driven past many time and not even noticed it was there. Now the real hard part comes, where to store the air compressor or what is removed from Buster to create space for the compressor to ride in storage.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Jan 21 - 24

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Wednesday, January 21, 2015
Morning 52 Degrees, wind NE 12, humidity 91%, cloudy, early fog and overcast later. Back to the glume overcast days after a nice weekend and start of the week.
Afternoon 64 Degrees, wind  , humidity 41%, cloudy lite rain late this afternoon.

I completed my file draw purging job I was using Walmart bags and I lost count of how many bags of paper and books from the insurance plans from over the years, every year a new book is printed and distributed. I do need to get into a regular cycle of purging the file draw. There has been a couple of workers “rigs” trailers, move out of the park and one move in as most of the rigs here are workers some with young children families.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Thursday, January 22, 2015
Morning 63 Degrees, wind SSE 6, humidity 96%, cloudy rain showers. Rain showers last night after dark measurable just above a trace. by eight o’clock it was 52 Degrees with winds of 15 & gusting to 25 mph, the front came thru our area.
Afternoon 48 Degrees, wind N 7 & gusting to 22, humidity 80%, cloudy overcast.
Do nothing outside day with these rain showers and cold weather an old Televisions day.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Friday, January 23, 2015
Morning 42 Degrees, wind NW 9, humidity 91%, cloudy and rain showers most of the morning.
Afternoon 47 Degrees, wind NW 10, humidity 89%, mostly cloudy we had some peeks of sunshine late in the afternoon.   Another inside morning and early afternoon of hanging in Buster. This weekend Bonnie and I are going to Austin for a sleep over.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Saturday, January 24, 2015
Morning 33 Degrees, wind W 8, humidity 94%, partly sunny.
Afternoon 62 Degrees, wind NW 4, humidity 41%, mostly sunny.
inside Bucee's
Austin, TX one hundred eleven miles with a stop at Bucee's for gasoline for Tan Jan and a toilet stop for Bonnie and I. A decent day for being out and about after four rainy cloudy days but not that warm. Carole and Avery are doing great and Jackie is visiting with childhood friends and will be here about noon tomorrow. We had a movie night as after dinner Avery put a movie disk in the DVD player and Carole made popcorn.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Jan 19 - 20

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Monday, January 19, 2015
Morning 36 Degrees, wind N 1, humidity 94%, partly sunny.
Afternoon 75 Degrees, wind N 6, humidity 53%, mostly sunny.

Today I thought would be a rest day, but more contacting the gate companies with the same result of every company being slow getting new gates. Any gates in progress are not needing relief people.

It was another nice day to be out and about. We did a drive into San Antonio getting our empty propane gas bottle exchanged for a full one. I would have stayed at Buster otherwise as this being a holiday the daytime traffic was a noticeable increase.

For the weekend it was a lot of traveling (driving) this weekend. South to visit with Bob & Jean then north to visit with Carole and family was almost three hundred-fifty miles so with the lower gasoline price we do not feel the pain at the pump as much. It is nice that every stop at the pump the price per gallon is down a penny or two.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Tuesday, January 20, 2015
Morning 41 Degrees, wind N 1, humidity 95%, mostly sunny.
Afternoon 82 Degrees, wind S 5, humidity 41%,  sunny.

In downloading pictures from the ipad from our trip to Carole’s I found some pictures on there of the refrigerator compartment with the Norcold refrigerator just removed.

This is a picture of the removed Norcold refrigerator sitting on the floor inside Buster before going out the window. This is the back side showing the cooling coils.

The vent opening, in the ceiling inside Busters refrigerator compartment, needed for the propane gas operation of the refrigerator, before being closed off.

Looking at the outside access and the propane gas tube that went to the refrigerator and hose for the brick heater. Also seen is the Norcold refrigerator floor.

Norcold refrigerator floor is removed showing wires and cables that go thru the compartment. On the left side there is a vent pipe that goes thru the left wall that is the height of the “new floor” for the Samsung refrigerator that will be installed.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Jan 18

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Sunday, January 18, 2015
Morning 46 Degrees, wind NNW 7, humidity 56%, mostly sunny
Afternoon 74 Degrees, mostly sunny.

Avery
Bonnie and I went out for a great dinner today. Bonnie was texting with Carole and we were invited for an early dinner this afternoon. It is only a one hundred-ten mile trip from here at Atascosa RV park to their house there in Austin. We left a few minutes early and stopped for gasoline at Bucee’s there north of New Braunfels, along the east side of Interstate thirty-five. That is an interesting gasoline stop, one hundred-twenty pumps and only a few were open when I pulled up to refuel Tan Jan. They cleared quickly as there were cars continuing to come and go. Inside clean modern restrooms and everything a convenience store should have plus more.

Lucy with Avery
We had a great time visiting along with a great dinner. Avery is eleven now and in a growth cycle so shoes and jeans are shrinking fast. Carole is scheduled for another trip to San Francisco soon but is also busy there in Austin. We will be going again soon unless we get a gate job.

Carole cooking with supervision Lucy & Chey
Been contacting the gate companies both ones we have worked for and ones we have not worked for looking for any available gate jobs but it is slow. Oil companies are “laying down” drill rigs and cutting their budget for drilling and completing well sites. These “budgets are investment” monies and while the oil price per barrel is in the mid forties now the return on the dollar invested is not what the companies need for their investment. There are gates with oil work continuing but new starts are not taking place. Budgets are being cut from twenty to ninety percent depending on the company. Production of oil from a well is an ongoing thing but can be “shut in”. I read a blog “fuelfix.com” that is news for the oil industry and stories reported there of the many companies slashing their investment budget for new oil and completion of wells.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Jan17

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Saturday, January 17, 2015
Morning 35 Degrees, wind N 1, humidity 93%, partly sunny.
Afternoon 70 degrees, wind W 3 , humidity 45%, mostly sunny.

I am counting my “purging project” fifty percent complete, I have whittled thru most everything else, my label. Now there is “healthcare” pile to work thru. 2014 was a change year for us as our “company” retiree medical had a big change as that was terminated. We had to transfer to individual plans, no more “family” plans for retiree healthcare. Our RV life even presented additional challenges in the selection process. Bonnie and I have the same healthcare provider but our part D drug plans are different. So we each have a health plan and a drug plan so one provider is now four providers. All this means four books and other documents whereas there was only one in previous years, or more space needed in our file draw. I also have three folders from previous years that I will purge.

Bonnie and I went visiting today, gate guarding friends from The Ranch in Lakewood, New Mexico. They are west of Tilden parked at a busy gate, but a slower weekend day is a good time for visiting. Arriving later in the afternoon allowed Bob to have a days sleep as he is the overnight person. Jean does the day shift `

Jean & Bonnie

We have not seen them for a couple of years as they also have been gate guarding and in the summer returning to Michigan. Bonnie and I had a great time visiting and trading “gate” stories with Jean & Bob. Our trip returning to Buster was an after dark experience as we try to not drive after dark.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Jan 16 -

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Friday, January 16, 2015
Morning 35 Degrees, wind N 1, humidity 97%, partly cloudy.
Afternoon 62 Degrees, wind SSE 4 , humidity 42%, mostly sunny.

It is back “Fox and Dish TV” have settled their three week contract dispute, we are now getting our fair and balanced news. Bonnie and I went into Pleasanton for a few things and we liked driving in the sun it so well we went to San Antonio also. A very nice sunny day for a ride. I took US 281 a different route for us as our starting point was from Oaklawn Street in Pleasanton.

I have taken the “stuffing” out of the file draw, let me explain. When I receive the mail and some other paperwork I read thru some and the “other” I read later and usually put on the side or what I use for an “in” basket, unless I act on that immediately, like deposit any “checks”, or pay something that needs immediate payment. Then Bonnie comes behind me and cleans up my paper piles “stuffing that paper in the file draw. Then when I want to “act” on something I left or plied in the “in basket”, it is not there, lost. “Stuffed” into the file draw, usually not found for an extended amount of time. These finds usually are when the purge takes place. So basically the procrastinating when receiving the “paper” leads to, procrastinating cleaning out the draw.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Jan 13 - 15

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Tuesday, January 13, 2015
Morning 40 Degrees, wind NNW 7, humidity 81%, cloudy and traces of rain.
Afternoon 44 Degrees, wind N 9, humidity 91%,  cloudy.

Procrastinating, we received a mail forwarding again yesterday thus adding to the paper going into the file draw. But there is “no room in the inn” or the draw is full, I actually could not add one more sheet of paper. I need to schedule a more frequent purging of the draw’s continents.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Wednesday, January 14, 2015
Morning 39 Degrees, wind NNE 5, humidity 96%, cloudy. Another cloudy overcast day
Afternoon 41 Degrees, wind N 7, humidity 95%, cloudy overcast all day.

Purging the file draw is started by purging the latest mail, not saving everything I that I have done in the past, anyway after a period of time these are also thrown out. Annual books received from Medicare, our are going 2013 and 2014 as we have received 2015. This will provide a half inch “new needed space” in the draw.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Thursday, January 15, 2015
Morning 41 Degrees, wind WNW 4, humidity 95%, partly sunny.

Afternoon 58 Degrees, wind N 2, humidity 54%, mostly sunny. The sun was nice today after all the clouds and overcast weather we have had.

Seeing some sun, this is needed as the overcast cloudy days are getting very old. I am making progress eliminating paper from the file draw, very noticeable in the plastic bags of paper being carried out to the dumpster.

Thought for the Day:   “Remember, here at Microsoft, we’re not happy till you’re not happy.”

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Jan 10 - 12

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Saturday, January 10, 2015
Morning 34 Degrees, wind N 5, humidity 90%,cloudy. I heard rain drops on Busters roof before six this morning but nothing since I have been up. We had a chance of sleet and freezing rain overnight but I only see frost on the neighbors pickup truck this mornings first look outside.

I Buster has been running on our fresh water tank over night the past three days. I fill the tank in the afternoon and remove the hose and also remove the drain hose to close the compartment completely. I have a small three hundred watt heater in there to warm the water pump and tubing in the wet bay from freezing during the night. Bonnie did the laundry yesterday while I had the hoses connected and the park water on.

Afternoon 36 Degrees, wind NNE 6, humidity 97%, Light rain and drizzle most of the day. We are inside except to do the water hose switch twice. Movies and NFL playoff games on the television was my day.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Sunday, January 11, 2015
Morning 38 Degrees, wind NNW 5, humidity 97%, cloudy. Almost two tenths of a inch of rain yesterday, a nasty wet day out there so we stayed inside Buster all day.

Afternoon 48 Degrees, wind W 6, humidity 54%, mostly cloudy. NFL divisional playoffs mostly came as expected, home team winning. They had a week of rest (did not play last weekend) but Denver lost at home.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Monday, January 12, 2015
Morning 35 Degrees, wind N 1, humidity 99%, partly sunny.

Afternoon 58 Degrees, wind NE 12, humidity 63%, mostly cloudy. The high temperature did not last long today with the wind coming up early today causing the temperature to drop. Bonnie and I went into Pleasanton this afternoon for our propane gas bottle refill as I try to keep Buster’s propane tank off line as much as I can while parked for any length of time.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Thursday, January 8, 2015
Morning 31 Degrees, wind N 9, humidity 32%, partly cloudy.
Afternoon 44 Degrees, wind E 4, humidity 35%, partly sunny

Bonnie and I went into San Antonio (south side ) as she wanted to find something for her hair dryer in the thrift stores, only took three to find the right thing. Then a stop at H E B for some groceries and back to Buster. A fairly nice day, cool but we had sunshine.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Friday, January 9, 2015
Morning 38 Degrees, wind NNE 9, humidity 92 mostly cloudy.
Afternoon 37 Degrees, wind N 9, humidity 90%, cloudy misty rain.

I drove down to the gate guard company and turned in our uniforms as there is no expected gates opening for them at this time. If one opens for us we will return so we will look elsewhere for now.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Jan 5 - 6 Avery

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Monday, January 5, 2015
Morning 31 Degrees, wind NNE 7, humidity 95%, mostly sunny.
Afternoon 56 Degrees, wind N 3 , humidity 48%, mostly sunny.

Doctor appointment day, Bonnie and I fasted over night for blood work. Only Bonnie had blood work I was disappointed, but I get mine in six weeks. With prescriptions in hand we went to breakfast at the new Village Inn restaurant in Pleasanton. From there with my new prescription plan I wanted to use CVS pharmacy and the closest is in south San Antonio. They were overloaded today as it is the first of the month, the holidays and new year changes in plans all taking more time to process all the scripts. Bonnie got her two but I did not get all of my prescriptions processed today so I have to return tomorrow for the rest.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Tuesday, January 6, 2015
Morning 35 Degrees, wind N 1, humidity 83%, mostly sunny.
Afternoon 64 Degrees, wind SE 5, humidity 33%, sunny.

Bonnie and I went to CVS again to pickup my remaining prescriptions then down the street to get propane tank exchange at Walmart and gasoline. It has been nice these past few months as you go the gasoline pump there is a new lower number compared to the last time you were at the pump.

Today is our grandson’s birthday, Happy Birthday Avery.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Jan 2 - 4

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Friday, January 2, 2015
Morning 37 Degrees, wind N 6, humidity 97%, cloudy. We are not enjoying the chili
wet weather, but it is not as bad as other southwest places RV er’s are having this winter.

Afternoon 45 Degrees, wind 4, humidity 99%, cloudy misty rain.
Lazy do nothing day, staying inside Buster out of the misty rain.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Saturday, January 3, 2015
Morning 43 Degrees, wind NNW 5, humidity 95%, mostly cloudy.
Bonnie and I went to the San Antonio RV Show at the Freeman Coliseum. This year we only looked at motorhomes. Last year we were only a day out of gate guarding and was more exciting to be out walking around we looked at trailer also. Now with our new refrigerator we were not as excited about the new motorhome models. New cook tops were of interest to Bonnie. There was only one dealer showing motorhomes so that did not take long. We then went to Whole foods for a soup lunch, Bonnie had soup and salad while I had soup and half a sandwich.

Afternoon 60 Degrees, wind SW 4, humidity 52%, mostly sunny. The afternoon drive back to Buster was nice in the sun after these cloudy misty drizzly days. Then some NFL football playoff games.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Sunday, January 4, 2015
Morning 40 Degrees, wind N 5, humidity 95%, sunny. I went to Pleasanton H E B for some groceries otherwise we stayed in Buster all day.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Jan 1 & Dec 31

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Wednesday, December 31, 2014
Morning 38 Degrees, wind E 12, humidity 91%, cloudy.
Bonnie and I were up and out early for breakfast returning Buster was ready to go even had the propane tank filled. Paid the bill hooked Tan Jan to the towbar and off we went.

Atascosa RV Park - Pleasanton, TX - Afternoon 41 Degrees, wind NNE 14 & gusting to 20, humidity 87%, cloudy. There is a wind chill of 8 (feels like 33 degrees) misty wet air and latter rain drops, nasty weather to go out in. It is a short trip I 37 I 410 & I 37, twenty-nine miles between, the RV park and the work place.

Buster was moved to 35 locations (at least one night per location) in 2014. Some are repeats, like when we go for repairs at Texas RV Supply and return a few nights later to the RV park. Buster was driven 4,431 miles in  2014. Bonnie was worn out with the early get ups and running around. She took a nap while I did some grocery shopping late afternoon, not fun the store was packed and the cold wet weather.

Buster parked at Atascosa RV Park
