After a slow morning Bonnie and I went into San Antonio, River Walk just a nice afternoon for a walk. I parked Tan Jan in a parking garage off East Commerce Street. Exited the garage and tried to get our bearings as the river walk is below street level and the signs are there only small in size.

Mostly tourist shops and restaurants there and the river boats ride. Bonnie and I just opted to patronize a restaurant for a late lunch.

As I was sitting down on the bed last night the real rain started coming down but it did not last long (0.14 inches).

We had another rain last night after eight o’clock and now partly sunny morning (in the east) still a cloudy sky in the west.

I took a drive to the gate company checking on available gates, very slow now with the price of oil down one-third companies are cutting back on work projected for completing wells. Also it is the time of the year the budget is low and planning next years budget is under way.

Morning 44 Degrees, wind 1 N mph & gusting to 6, humidity 95%, partly sunny. We are on the waiting list to get a gate. I guess that there are fewer gates available and other snow birds have arrived in the area looking for gate jobs. 

Afternoon 70 Degrees, wind N 2 mph, humidity 65%, partly sunny. I am going to start looking for other companies that gate guard trying to get a gate with them. 

We went into San Antonio for some shopping and the gasoline purchased was $ 2.259 did not need much but at that price I could not pass by without filling up the tank in Tan Jan.

It is trying to rain little drops on the windshield this afternoon. Sending more inquires about gate jobs today but things are slow with the oil price per barrel down so much in the past six weeks the oil companies are slowing their new work.

Morning 52 Degrees, wind 6 N, humidity 92%, partly cloudy. Lazy slow puttering around day. I even caught a nap in the late morning before football games. I was Checking Buster to add additional battery storage. The residential refrigerator will draw additional power from the battery bank when traveling or boondocking. Yes the generator can power the residential refrigerator and the solar panels can recharge the batteries but the extra storage will extend the time between generator starts. There is a compartment behind the house batteries that can be lengthen resulting in enough room to install two additional batteries.

This addition will enlarging the battery capacity by fifty percent. This compartment just needs three inches more front to back, there is room for that additional needed space for the battery addition, behind the compartment is the engine air intake flex duct, with three inches to the box. When Texas RV Supply installs the refrigerator I will have them take a look and give me an estimate for enlarging that compartment. I can relocate the things stored there now, or throw them out.

Morning 66 Degrees, wind 6 mph SSE, humidity 94%, mostly cloudy. Another slow rest day for Bonnie and I here at the RV park. Cleaning and resorting of the under storage bays is an on going project.

For the next six weeks all of our efforts will be put to planning the refrigerator change. In addition to reducing what we are holding in the refrigerator and the storage draws below, the storage in the bays underneath will be thinned out.

 I texted the gate company letting them know we are ready for assignment on Monday. As we need to get working to pay for the refrigerator change.

Afternoon 82 Degrees, wind Variable, humidity 41%, partly cloudy, with some sun peeking out of the clouds. Bonnie and I took a trip into southeast San Antonio for more storage bins for our closet in Buster with an early dinner afterwards.

More puttering around outside when Bonnie wants to see the water, travel down to the Gulf of Mexico for seafood. We got cleaned up and headed south for Rockport and Corpus Christy. We has a nice lunch/dinner at Charlotte Plumber’s on the waterfront. After eating we went to Home Depot to pickup some wood and some small hardware store items. Also on Interstate thirty-seven in George West, gasoline with my RV card $ 2.279 per gallon

Florida State won 37 - 35, win # 29 in a row 13 - 0 this season and now the 2014 ACC Champions.

Taking it easy today reading blog’s and writing some inquires to others. One blog with detailed posts (four) replacing the RV refrigerator. Removing the RV Norcold 1200 gas absorption type and installing a residential refrigerator used in homes operate by means of a compressor. This blog is also installing a Samsung same model as we are going to use in Buster. This conversion was done in 2012 and as of today over two years of operation in the motorhome. A later post on the blog has them installing a clip to the refrigerator cooling coil inside as there was a freezing blockage of the water drain. Great information from other RV’ers blogging their experiences. The new models of this refrigerator should have the clip installed, something for me to check on in January.

         

Another blog they replaced the Norcold 1200 with a Whirlpool Model ED2GVEXVD from Lowe's. Pictures of the empty area with RV refrigerator removed showed evidence of burning at the top of the compartment from propane gas refrigerator operation. There could have been a real coach fire with more gas operation in the future. The picture is at the area of the roof vent opening of the coach, the black area is burnt. Some of these blog stories are two or four years old, i wish i knew of these in 2012 when I replaced the cooling unit on our Norcold 1200.

Bonnie and I were out running around early as we needed to be out of Buster by eight o’clock for the work to continue. After breakfast we checked the Home Depot that has the Samsung refrigerator on the floor the sale ends today so we have to make a decision of what to do. There are none in anyone’s warehouse in the area (as we checked most of the appliance stores in the area) and Home Depot will not sell the floor model.


After noon we went back to Buster to check his progress and Buster was done and ready to go I paid his bill and went back to Home Depot and ordered the refrigerator and got a December 29 delivery date. In January we will have Texas RV Supply remove the Norcold refrigerator from Buster and install the new Samsung. By ordering today we saved five hundred dollars and have twelve months to pay with no interest.

After coming back from Home Depot Buster was waiting for us having had his propane gas tank filled and headed in the out direction. We got Tan Jan hooked up and headed for diesel fuel and south to Pleasanton. A short forty-five mile trip and Buster is setup here at Atascosa RV Park. We are ready for a day off.
